Discover the territory

The LAG Antico Dogado is the only interprovincial Local Action Group of the Veneto Region: the area extends between the provinces of Venice and Padua.
The reference area includes the municipalities of Campagna Lupia, Campolongo Maggiore, Cavarzere, Chioggia, Cona, Mira in the Venice province and Arzergrande, Bovolenta, Candiana, Codevigo, Correzzola, Pontelongo, Terrassa Padovana in the Padua province.
The LAG area, although it presents a wide territorial extension, especially from North to South (40 km), has the characters of spatial homogeneity and continuity that are common to and depend on the presence of important water courses for the Veneto Region, such as the Adige, the Brenta and the Bacchiglione.
The dominant trait of this territory is to be a “middle ground”, contested by nature – in the eternal struggle between land and water – and by man, who has always fought for control of these strategic areas.
The Low Lands, thanks to a strong historical heritage formed by land and water itineraries, also serve as the connective tissue capable of guiding tourists concentrated in the lagoon area (Venice, Chioggia) towards the hinterland through a network of slow mobility itineraries.
Through this reading it’s possible to see how the non-homogeneous and seemingly antithetical vocations of the two coastal and rural areas may, however, become complementary and give rise to a complex system that is able to respond adequately to the demand for alternative land use.
